I, Walter Hoving, and my lovely wife, Susan, have been collecting cocktail and food recipes from all over the world,

since the wheel was square. During our work/pleasure travels, Susan and I have always tried the local food delicacies and drinks,

and whether we liked the fare or not, they always asked the bartender or chef for the recipe. We live in Chicago and will not

stop drinking until the Chicago Cubs win the World Series…then we will celebrate the event properly!

This publication contains over 6,000 drink concoctions collected in over five hundred cities, towns, little hamlets and

many villages in over fifty countries and all of the fifty states. Most of the recipes were told to me by bartenders, wine stewards,

wine producers, distillery managers, liquor salesman, brew masters and drinking folk that I met in my travels,

including a “white lightning” entrepreneur. Throughout this book there are hundreds of jokes, quotes, toasts, quips, statements,

recommended name brand alcoholic delights, ways to make your own, serious and amusing anecdotes and philosophies by

famous and infamous people that I have collected in these travels. I have tried to give proper credit, where credit is due;

but for those that I can find no origin, I simply call them “Wallyisms.” You be the judge.
